Visa

The Embassy of India, Brasilia, assures the people of the Federative Republic of Brazil of very prompt and quality visa and consular services.  In addition to the Embassy of India in Brasilia, we have Consulate General of India in Sao Paulo to facilitate the residents of the five States of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and Parana.  Therefore, the residents of these five States may apply to the Consulate General of India in Sao Paulo.  Residents of all other States may apply to the Embassy of India in Brasilia.

Visa applications are normally accepted from 0900-1130 hours.  Visa applications of the Brazilian nationals will be processed and visa granted, in most cases, the next day.  Applicants for Business, Student and Work visa may kindly ensure that all the documents are submitted and requirements met.  The details of documents and requirements are given separately.  Incomplete documentation could result in delays. Applications of other nationals, who are not resident in Brazil, would be processed on merit, subject to clearance by the Indian Embassy in the country of the applicant.  Visa fees can be paid either by Demand Draft or by cash, if you are visiting the Embassy personally. Personal cheques will not be accepted. [Click here for complete information on acceptable methods of payment]. The Embassy of India will not take responsibility for any faults made by Correios such as delivery, delays or correspondence misleading.

The prescribed validity of the visa commences from the date of issue of visa and not from the date a person enters India.  All persons holding visa valid for more than 180 days, should register with the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office within 14 days of arrival in India.  Visiting foreign nationals should also ensure that they leave India before the expiry of visa.  Any overstay needs to be  regularized and the visa extended, before any such person can leave the country, for which overstay fee  and visa extension fee would be collected by the immigration authorities in India.  Any telephonic enquiry relating to submission of an application for visa may be had at  3248-4006.
